Net Entertainment’s highly marketed slot machine Lights is a three row, five reel video slots game with nine pay lines. The background graphics are mountains or hills on both sides of a valley with water flowing toward the right side. I would not have known it was a game setting of the orient without the lanterns used as symbols. This isn’t to say that the background isn’t beautiful, because it is. It looks peaceful and relaxing, but nothing stands out telling me where it is located. The background sounds are oriental sounding but after a few minutes I turned them off as they were not as relaxing as the graphics themselves. Overall I like the Lights slot machine because it does put me in a more relaxed mood because of the graphics and it is only nine pay lines. Many players say the more lines the better, but I have simpler tastes and I can keep track of nine pay lines easier than 15 or 20.
Lights Slot Symbols
There are ten basic symbols and two special symbols used in Lights. The first five symbols are types of oriental lanterns. From highest payout to lowest, they are the red lantern with Chinese dragons, orange lantern, green lantern, blue lantern and purple lantern. The five lower paying symbols, from highest to lowest, are the card symbol. The wild symbols say wild on them and are circled by floating lights and almost appears to be like fireflies. The scatter symbol is what I assume is a yin and yang representation, though it looks different than most. It takes on the appearance of an orb that has dancing lights trapped in it.
Lights Game Play
Chosen at random, two, three or four floating wild symbols will appear on every spin. The location that they course land is also chosen at random. They are most helpful on the first two reels as it allows for an increased number of winning paylines. Like most games, the scatter symbol is not a symbol that the wild symbol can substitute for, but everything else can be.
Any time you are fortunate enough to get three, four or five of the scatter yin yang symbols it unlocks the free spin bonus round. Three scatters gives you 10 free spins, four scatters gets you 20 free spins and five yin yang scatter symbols nets 30 free spins. You can also win more free spins while playing your free spins.
You can wager from 1 to 10 coins per line per spin and your coin size can be .01, .02, .05, .10, .20, .50 or 1. So the top bet is 90 per spin. You can set the auto play feature, hit the spin button in the middle of the bottom of the screen or just hit the max bet button. The top prize is 90,000 coins and it is a set amount. The Lights slots game does not offer a progressive jackpot.
Conclusion
Lights is a rather interesting game with a common them but presented in such a way that it becomes new and fresh. The random wilds make it enjoyable and something to look forward to each spin. It is a worthwhile slot to spend some time playing.
